Bid On Hud Homes

Bid On Hud Homes

Once a HUD home has been bought, all renovations must be performed according to HUD rules. The house must be tested for lead based paint (LBP) with an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved testing kit. This inspection must be performed by an official LBP risk assessor. A pamphlet must be handed out by contractors working on the HUD renovation called the EPA / HUD Renovate Right: Important Lead Hazard Information for Families, Child Care Providers and Schools. HUD prohibits certain work practices when renovating; the use of heat guns that may burn paint, dry sanding, scraping farther than 1 foot away from electrical outlets, or the use of volatile paint stripper.
